Biography
a well-known landscape, portrait, and still life painter from South Africa. He was a well-known representative of Cape Impressionism, the creator of the New Group, and he made art that supported the anti-apartheid movement.
Moses Kottler was the one who gave Nita Spilhaus an easel in 1926 and Gregoire a box of paints in 1922, sparking a creative spark that would last for over eight decades. Gregoire’s father believed he could learn more from the artists around him and was adamantly opposed to receiving a formal education in the arts.
